Gabriel Gonzaga welcomes Octagon newcomer Geronimo dos Santos at UFC 153
The bouts keep pouring in for UFC 153 as heavyweight Gabriel Gonzaga (13-6, 8-5 UFC) is set to meet Octagon newcomer Geronimo "Mondragon" dos Santos (31-14, 0-0 UFC).
Tatame, a Brazilian media outlet, first reported the news on Wednesday.
UFC 153 takes place on Oct. 13 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and is headlined by a featherweight title fight between champion Jose Aldo and challenger Erik Koch. The main card airs on Pay-Per-View with the preliminary action in North America taking place on FX, Rogers Sportsnet and Facebook.
Gonzaga, 33, has won two straight after being released from the promotion including a first round submission win over Ednaldo Oliveira in his return bout at UFC 142. He also scored a third round submission in his lone bout outside the UFC during that time.
Dos Santos, 31, enters the UFC having won 10 straight with seven being knockouts and two submissions. "Mondragon" has been extremely active since his debut six years ago fighting an average of seven and a half times per year. Of his 45 professional bouts he's been to a decision twice, once in victory and once in defeat. He holds 20 knockouts and nine submissions among his victories.
